Stepping back in time

There is nowhere quite like Goodwood Revival. The moment you walk through the gates, the modern world simply melts away. Suddenly you are surrounded by vintage cars, swing music, tweed, silk and more red lipstick than you could shake a compact at.

As someone who spends her working life designing vintage-inspired jewellery, it is the closest thing I have to a spiritual home. This year I went with a camera, a full diary and a very clear plan: soak up every bit of Goodwood Revival style I could find.

Fresh off the press: a new brand

Our new visual identity takes its cues from the elegance of another era: handwritten correspondence, vintage fashion editorials, old cinema titles, and the beautifully composed advertisements once found in the pages of society magazines.

The result is a new look that feels more distinctly Lovett & Co. - romantic and refined, nostalgic without standing still.

The outfit

Choosing what to wear to Goodwood Revival is half the fun, and I will admit the planning started weeks ago. In the end I built my look around a true treasure: an original vintage Christian Lacroix blazer in the most beautiful tweed. It has that perfect country-meets-couture feel that sits so naturally at Goodwood, and it nods to the tailored silhouettes of 1940s fashion without feeling like a costume.

On my feet were Frankie4 shoes. Anyone who has done a full day at Revival knows you cover miles between the circuit, the paddock and the shops, so comfort was non-negotiable. They kept me going from first coffee to the final race without a single wince.

No Revival outfit is complete without a hat, and mine came from the wonderful Hectic Hat Hire. Hiring a hat is such a clever idea for an event like this. You get a statement piece that finishes the look perfectly, without the commitment of buying something you might only wear once a year.

The jewellery

Of course, the jewellery was the part I was most excited about. Tweed and pearls are one of those combinations that never fails, so I leaned right into it.

On my lapel sat our Audrey pearl brooch. A brooch on a blazer instantly lifts it, and it gave the Lacroix tweed a softer, more feminine finish.

Around my neck I wore our Deco Pearl Tassel Necklace. It is a long rope of glass pearls with a sparkling tassel, very 1920s in spirit, and it moved beautifully every time I did. Layered over tweed, it looked unexpected and utterly glamorous.

To keep things balanced, I finished with our Audrey Hepburn pearl stud earrings. Simple, classic and the perfect quiet partner to a statement necklace.

First stop: Betty's hair salon

Before anything else, I made a beeline for Betty's hair salon. Getting your hair done on site is one of my favourite Revival rituals. There is something so joyful about sitting among rollers and pin curls, chatting to strangers who all share the same love of vintage style.

I walked out with a set that held beautifully all day, sitting neatly under my hat. Feeling properly polished, I was ready to go and find my people.

Catching up with the Goodwood guys and gals

One of the best things about Revival is the community. Every year it feels like a reunion with friends old and new.

First I caught up with Katie ( @thehistorygossip). If you don't follow her already, you really should. She makes history feel like the juiciest gossip over a cup of tea, with a real focus on the women so often left out of the story. Chatting fashion history with her, surrounded by people dressed straight out of the past, felt wonderfully fitting.

Spotting Lovett & Co in the wild

I never tire of seeing our pieces out and about, and Revival did not disappoint. The gorgeous Scarlett ( @scarlettluxe), a UK vintage-inspired model whose styling is always impeccable, was wearing Lovett & Co. Seeing our jewellery finish off one of her looks made my day.

Then, completely out of the blue, a lady came up to tell me she had worn Lovett & Co on her wedding day. I was genuinely touched. Knowing that something we designed played a small part in one of the most important days of someone's life is exactly why I do this.

I also bumped into the team behind @archeologues_du_feutur, whose looks were a masterclass in commitment to the era. See her hat, with a murder story on our Instagram post.

Then came one of my favourite conversations of the day, with David ( @uncleaisosa). David is a menswear style expert who teaches men how to dress well, and we got talking about brooches for men. It is something I am so passionate about. A brooch on a lapel is not just for women, and historically it never was. A small pearl or crystal piece on a tweed jacket or a dinner suit adds real personality, and David had some brilliant thoughts on how men can wear one with confidence.

A feast of vintage fashion

The sheer range of Goodwood Revival fashion never stops amazing me. In the space of five minutes I saw wartime land girls, sharp 1940s fashion in uniform and utility suits, full-skirted 1950s fashion in candy-coloured prints, sixties mods and immaculate racing drivers in period overalls.

What I love most is that nobody does it by halves. People take dressing up seriously here, right down to the gloves, the seamed stockings and the correct handbag. Vintage couples arrive perfectly coordinated, families dress their children to match, and the attention to detail is incredible. It is a true celebration of vintage fashion, and everyone plays their part.

The highlight: the Style Stage

If I had to pick one moment, it would be the Style Stage. Watching the best dressed competition unfold is pure joy. Every entrant had clearly poured their heart into their outfit, from the hair and make-up to the tiniest accessory.

The atmosphere was electric, with the crowd cheering on every look. Seeing who took the crown for best dressed was the perfect way to celebrate everything Goodwood Revival style stands for: creativity, craftsmanship and a lot of fun.

Until next year

What a fabulous, fun-filled day. And, in what felt like a small miracle for an English September, it did not rain once. The tweed stayed dry, the hair stayed set and the pearls stayed gleaming.

I drove home tired, happy and already dreaming up next year's outfit. In fact, I am already booking my tickets. If you have never been to Goodwood Revival, make this the year you go. I will see you there, and do come and say hello if you spot a Lovett & Co brooch on a lapel.
