Keep It High and Dry

Jewellery may bring glamour to the occasion, but it would rather skip the bath.

Remove your pieces before showering, bathing or swimming in the sea or pool. Water, chlorine and salt can tarnish metals and affect delicate finishes, so keep your jewels as dry as possible.

Perfume First, Pearls Last

Hairspray, perfume, lotions and other beauty products can damage or discolour your jewellery. Apply them first, allow everything to dry, and add your jewels as the final flourish.

As a golden rule: your jewellery should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off.

Dress with care

Fasten clasps gently and avoid pulling or twisting chains. Putting your jewellery on after dressing also helps prevent delicate details from catching on clothing, snagging fabric or causing breakages.

A little patience preserves a great deal of sparkle.

Give Every Jewel Its Own Boudoir

Store your pieces somewhere cool and dry, away from direct sunlight, heat and humidity, which can cause fading, tarnishing or discolouration.

Whenever possible, keep each piece in its own pouch, box or compartment. This prevents chains from becoming tangled and stops stones and metals from rubbing against one another.

Polish, Don’t Punish

After wearing, gently wipe your jewellery with a soft, dry cloth to remove any natural oils or residue. Avoid abrasive cleaners, chemical dips and vigorous polishing—they are far too stern for delicate costume jewellery.
